BULLS FOR SALE NOW 〰️
Dexters are compact. They require less land than standard cattle. You can typically graze two Dexters on the same amount of land required for one larger breed. They are known for their ability to thrive on diverse forage and lower-quality pasture while still maintaining good body condition.
In Northern Indiana, our winters are extremely cold due to the lake-effect snow off of Lake Michigan. Dexters are remarkably resilient and known for Climate Adaptability. We have had the harshest winters since the Blizzard of 1978, a drought in 2025, and we had tornadoes as well. Our cattle have handled everything Mother Nature has thrown at them and have gone with the flow.
Known for their docile temperament, makes them an ideal choice for first-time cattle owners or families with children, as they are much less intimidating than a 1,500 lb commercial cow. Our grandson took a ride on our cow, Maureen, and we all had a good laugh at the fun he had. We have a Chondrodysplasia cow who recently had a bull calf (Tommy Boy). We are responsible breeders and will not breed this little guy with another Chondro. He will be sold to another family that wants short-legged Dexters, or he will go to market. If you are interested in any of our cattle, reach out as they will be sold through social media, website, and the ADCA.

TOMMY BOY IS PERFECT FOR THE HOMESTEAD WANTING SHORT-LEGGED CATTLE
Dexters are a triple-purpose breed used for beef, milk, strength, and intelligence. Most modern cattle are bred strictly for either beef or dairy. Dexters excel in all three categories. Their beef is high-quality, lean, and has excellent marbling. Because they are smaller, the "cuts" are more manageable for a family freezer. Their strength and intelligence make them excellent working animals for small farms. Our Dexters will take walks with Mike so he can lead them wherever he wants them. If a calf happens to get out of the fence, walking the calf alongside the herd will quickly put her/him in the right pasture.
Last winter’s coldest day, we had a calf that needed warming up, so we brought mom and baby into the barn. They bonded right away and stayed cozy. Dexter cows are known for their incredible mothering instincts and rarely need any help calving. They often keep breeding well into their teens or even early twenties. Our two twelve-year-old moms are still pros at breeding excellent stock! When Sadie calves, her babies are up and running with the herd in just 20 minutes. She’s a no-nonsense cow with amazing instincts, and her dun heifers are absolutely gorgeous.
